Simple junk journal page. I’m trying to get back into art journaling but haven’t been able to find enough time, so I thought I’d make myself a small junk journal where I can play with supplies and get back into the rhythm of creating without the intimidation of a large empty page.

What are your favorite pizza toppings?

There’s something so satisfying and delicious about cooking outdoors. I’ve been making pizza on a pizza stone for as long as I can remember but we’ve now gotten ourselves a new pizza oven. It’s been SO fun experimenting.

My biggest challenge so far is getting the pizza off the pizza peel, I think I’ll have to try a wooden peel since dough is supposed to stick to that less.

An art journal page that was inspired by something

An art journal page that was inspired by something I pinned on Pinterest long ago. The blues and yellows work so beautifully with one another and they remind me of a sari I fell in love with from a magazine as a child. This page was made using tissue paper, acrylic paints, watercolor crayons, gesso and a charcoal pencil.

Apple crumble with apples from my parents’ back yard.
Ingredients:

Filling:
4 tart apples (like granny smith), peeled and roughly cubed
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ cup sugar
Juice and zest of 1 orange

Topping:
¼ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup quick cooking oats (not oatmeal!)
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
½ cup cold butter, cubed
¼ cup sugar

Making this piece was a really a beautiful experience, each brush stroke was placed with intention while reciting Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik or here I am oh Allah here I am which means repeatedly submitting to Allah and obeying Him.
