Art Journal- Raise Your Words
As you can probably tell by now, I like Rumi- I use so many of his quotes on my journal pages. This one is a reminder to be gentle with your words, “Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder”.
The background of this page was created using walnut ink sprays. The flowers and leaves were all stamped on a white piece of paper, colored in with watercolor paints, and then cut out.
I’m not a very patient person and this page absolutely drove me nuts. Coloring each individual petal and leaf was pretty painful but not nearly as painful as cutting each one out. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll probably never use this technique on such a large quantity of intricate shapes. I do love the effect of the water colors on white paper so, next time, I’ll just have to remember to use larger shapes and make sure there aren’t so many little edges to cut out.
