Art Journal- Fly
“You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don’t. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly.” – Rumi
This beautiful quote was written in a book given to my by one of my cousins a few years ago. It’s such an empowering statement, and a reminder to never cut ourselves short on anything in life.
This page started off with a layer of some tie-dye inks (which are meant for fabric but they worked well here) that were then covered in a light coating of gesso. This is a simple way to mute the bright colors in the background a little bit so that the other elements on the page actually have the chance to stand out. The beautiful branch with the birdcages is a stencil that I used modeling paste with. Once dry, I colored the modeling paste with some India ink pens and outlined each piece in black in order to make it more prominent. The outlining ant writing was done using a fine point sharpie.
Just a reminder that my first art journaling workshop is this Saturday October 25th, you can get more information and sign up here.
