Paneer Jalfrezi
Paneer is a type of cheese made from curdled milk and it’s used in South Asian cooking. There are many different ways to use paneer in curries, this is a recipe for Paneer Jalfrezi. It’s a dry curry which goes well served over rice or with some chapati.
Paneer Jalfrezi
Ingredients
- 1 packet Paneer about 400g
- 2 tbsp of oil
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 medium sized tomatoes diced
- 2 small onions cube one, dice the other
- 1 bell pepper cubed
- 1 tsp red chilli pepper
- 1 tsp salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp (zeera powdeground cumin
- 1/2 tsp (dhaniya powdeground corriander seeds
Instructions
- In a heavy bottomed skillet, heat 1 tbsp oil to medium high and lightly stir-fry the cubed bell pepper and cubed onion for a minute (don't let it wilremove the pepper and onion from the pan and set aside.
- Add 1 tbsp oil to the pan along with the 1 diced onion and the ginger garlic paste, cook stirring continuously for a few minutes until the onions turn a light golden brown.
- Add the tomatoes, cook until they lose their color and oil starts to separate from the curry (about 8 minutes).
- Add in the salt, pepper, turmeric, zeera, and dhaniya powder.
- Add in the paneer and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in the stir fried onion and capsicum.
Notes
Serve with rice or chapati
